Notes from a Diary---Sunday Scribblings

Sunday Scribblings prompt is Diary Writing.

I am writing this from the perspective of my Dairy.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Dearest Gautami,
I know, I know. I should not write to you. You are the one who writes on me. I look forward to what you write each day. I have been with you for long that at times I think I am you. Well, almost.
My leather bound cover is tattered but you love me as much as you love your own self. You get paranoid when you cannot find me. I have known you to panic and wanted to tell you not to. I can look after myself for you. I always am at the same secret place. However, you are forgetful and look for me at other familiar places.
We have been through so much together. I am privy to all your secrets, your despair, your joy, your thoughts, your feelings. Sometimes your sadness has cut me to quick and your joys have lifted me up. I have wanted to hug you through that darkest phase of your life but you with your head held so high, never let anyone erode your protective covering. I admire you for not letting go of your dignity, not giving in to it. Your ability to get going under any circumstances has made me proud of being your diary. I know I am your outlet to all your thoughts. You write so haphazardly sometimes, but it is so lucid and clear to me.
I am saddened too when you try to articulate and no words come out. You stare at me blankly, anguish writ large on your façade. Then I do not know how to reach out. I wish so much to dispel your fears, your glooms but I cannot. I am only your diary. I want to be your diary for eternity.
As always,
Your dear diary
i want to write as if I were your pen, held in your graceful hand, flowing out your thoughts so quickly on the anxious page.
oh, that ink could talk!
this is touching, very much so.
Who knows where the cold wind blows?
Kind of chills the bones a bit!
I stare at my blog like that sometimes; trying to find words to put to the keyboard that others will want to read. Michele sent me.
nice twist, the diary talking back, now if we could just read the diary...
This is nice, I've never cared to see it the other way around, from the diary's point of view. Interesting!
this says so much about us all
thank you
A diary writes back. How creative! Makes me wonder what mine would say. I posted mine with a photo of my diary from when I was 10. It's a treasure.
Very inventive Gautami. Sage advice to yourself.
Beautiful approach! The wisdom of diaries.
Excellent take on the prompt. Although I do most of my writing on a laptop, there is nothing quite like a pen and paper. Those painful moments when our thoughts and emotions have difficulty making their way on to paper are a valuable part of the process.
Great post!
Sounds like the diary of a woman honest with herself, Gautami. Interesting way to see where you are.
Such a cool idea for this weeks prompt...I enjoyed reading it.
nice.. i liked it.
very nice. At first, I also thought you were presenting a letter only to discover the truth at the end...the diary.
I came to mention that, indeed there is mor to the almost cryptic 3WW at my blog, but, here you are, much closer to that than folks here.
Most scoff at me of the idea of a nuclear bomb going off in the US, but, I try to mention that there are many out there with the danged things! And, not all are so very civilized nor have good intentions.
My own personal call on the note has been steadfast through-out.
ALL NUCLEAR items should be discontinued and dis assembled and the secrets of them burnt from humankind.
Weapons AND power stations alike.
I love how your diary loves you! Wonderfully creative.
That's an interesting take. Would make a good movie - a woman whose diary materializes in the form of a person who knows everything about her.
This was so clever...and I could really relate to your last paragraph, of having such powerful feelings inside you about something, but not having the right words to express them. It's a very frustrating feeling!
That's amazing! What a unique and creative way to express how you feel about your diary. Well done.
My diary showed its pages to the authorities and took out a restraining order. Now I'm not allowed within 500 feet of my night stand, which is rather inconvenient. And to add insult to injury, I have no place to write of this experience and collect my thoughts.
...so I came back because I wanted t'get all you neat new writers onto m'blog roll, and guess what I saw?
I saw my unobservant self actually reading the words DIARY at the top of the piece of writing but not seeing it the first time.
Being one who is short of time makes me really clumsy in that way, sometimes....
Great take - love the way your diary assured you that they would always be there.
Have a wonderful week.
Namaste.
A wonderful take on the prompt. I do like the thought of that inanimate object actually being alive.
thanks for the support; it's always reassuring to have someone say something as simple as "you'll be fine." really. also, i like your take on the prompt. it's not hard to think of a diary as having its own personality and you capture what must commonalities among all diaries/writers.
what a clever way of addressing this prompt. mine would nag me i think ;-)
Hey, how do you pronounce your name? I just want to be able to hear it in my head as I say it, when I read your stuff.
What a neat take on the topic. I'd never have thought to go that route.
This was great!
I would hate to hear from my diary's. I'm afraid they may all ban together and stage an intervention. :)
Diary writing has always been a safe haven for me when my world was not always a safe place. Thanks for sharing the diary's point of view. Very original and very touching.
