afterthought---Monday Poetry Train

I often picture myself
lolling on grass, staring at the sky-
longing to submerge myself in the vast island of
seemingly nothingness.

where stars romance with me,
I touch the sun along with the moon
with other celestial bodies thrown in good measure;
away from the banality
of routine.

such a place where
anonymity gets to be so much a part
striking individuality, striving even further to exist
with determination
and dignity.

as an afterthought
that reminds me, ennui setting in,
apparently, for no reason, I have been bored
with you of late.

Great ending! I also loved:
"staring at the sky-
longing to submerge myself"

I've never thought of the sky and 'submerge' together, which makes your image so original.

Oops! This one has a sting in its tail.

Yes, a biting ending. Seeing the vast nothingness tends to do that.

Going to sound like a broken record here, but I'm with the rest. The ending is my favorite part of this poem.

it is my experience too that return to the mundane after a cosmic consciousness experience

I wondered if maybe you meant bored with blogging, since you mention anonymity, which sounds like the internet.

I love the ending, of course. I so get it; that's how I felt about so many of the guys I dated. Always yearning for bigger and better and then coming back to Earth and stopping and ... yeah. That was the end of things, all right.

I found it sad that there is afterthought about that simple thing.

Very descriptive I could see it very clearly in my head. Well done.
