weeds of war---Cafe Writing & Monday Poetry Train

listen to the world gone shallow
spirit is hunted as well haunted

dreams that soared are now sour
weeds take over reason tenuously

clamouring to get a hold, thriving
in the aftermath. thorns of combat

pierce all but the one who started it
closing his eyes, he refuses to budge.

“war goes on, it has from time immemorial”

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Wrote this short piece for Cafe Writing October Project Option five where one has to choose at least 3 words from the following and include those in an essay, story or poetry:
dream, weed, spirit, listen, crisp, shallow, tenuous, mischievous
Posting this for Monday Poetry Train too...
The link will be live in about five minutes, and Gautami, I'm so sorry, I thought I'd left a comment inviting you to play!
But you found us anyway, and I'm glad :)
This is so strongly stated, and so true!
I especially like this~
"dreams that soared are now sour
weeds take over reason tenuously"
Well done!
the greatness of human spirit is never to give up. Scared, and the ultimate sacrifice carries on the ideology of a future society. That we shall move forward to dream more and achieve more, and fight of more enemies of the mind.
Fabulous! This was deliciously profound:
"thorns of combat
pierce all but the one who started it"
Thanks.
An apt description of the times we live in and done without pointing fingers, very diplomatic. In my opinon this is a wonderful poem. Thanks for sharing.
Thanks for letting me know about the link to my blog. I forgot to capitalize the director name and that seems to be an important factor with my server. *shrugging shoulders*
Hey, thanks for introducing me to Cafe Writing - what a great idea! I love writing prompts, experimental forms, etc.
I love the sounds in these lines:
"listen to the world gone shallow
spirit is hunted as well haunted
dreams that soared are now sour"
This is very powerful! I really like these lines:
pierce all but the one who started it closing his eyes, he refuses to budge.
I wish this wasn't so true!
