if only-----

If only I had time
to write a novel-
now I just write haiku

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
~~~~~
rabbit looks
askance-
I stop suddenly

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
tractor leaves tracks
wheat boughs sway
are they dancing?
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

cut to stump
tree sheds tears
in cold breeze

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
peanut will sprout
anywhere
it only needs a will
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

sestina-
thirty nine lines?
prefer haikuing

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
If only I had time
to read you-
now I just feel you
From the whimsical to the sublime. Excellent.
Love how you have captured the spirit of passing thoughts! A real sense of passing time with quite a sensitive twist at the end! Delightful!
All of these are thrilling. How a rabbit can make me stop, too. The power of silent gentleness, perhaps?
"If only I had time to read you" stuns me. It's wonderful.
Thanks.
These are wonderful, and I just love the last!
I'll be the first to give love to the peanut verse! loved that but the last one touched me very deeply too.
These leave much to think about. When I worked full time and schooled full time I wrote a novel.
Just try and you will most likely do.
enjoyed the read, but I am feeling you on the ending.
Ahh, time. How many times a day do I wish for more of it?
That last one stopped me even more surely than a rabbit! Beautiful!
Each of these speak of much. Couldn't choose a favorite!
I love how you wrapped up the poem to reflect the first senryu. It was delightful. :)
I love the "sestina" one too, as I can feel your "pain/frustration" of sestinas. I'm just terrible with form poetry. Maybe one of these days when I'm out of school and find more time, I'll attempt again.
Gautami, thank you sincerely for visiting my poetry site. I now have the time to return the visit, and I do apologize for getting back to you at a late time! My apologies.
Anyway, I so do enjoyed this set of haiku/senryu. :)
Your first one and your last one are my favorites. I can relate to both.
We should all be like the lowly peanut:
"peanut will sprout
anywhere
it only needs a will"
!
JUST write haiku? ; )
Keep it up, gautami.
Keep haiku-ing and before long you'll have a novel - this is a lovely set of wonder, wisdom and wish.
A couple of those were really funny, Gautami. The first one and the sestina one had me smiling really big today at work :)
honestly, there is nothing "just" about your haiku...it is wonderful! (though i am sure i would be just as captured by a novel by you as well!)
as if laying on one's back, surrounded by green grass, reading the shapes of clouds, talking outloud... i wonder when love blossoms we stop reading and just feel our way through... a most enjoyable day...
Tami, how truly sad and beautiful.
Your words "If only I had time
to read you-
Well done my friend.
