night sounds

fraught with such distraught
in darkness he touched her arm;
said, dispel my insomnia

Yes, it's amazing how distraught we can feel when in the throes of insomnia...beautifully put!

lovely sounds and evocative scene...

fraught, distraught with such
in darkness he touched her arm;
said, dispel my insomnia

because otherwise it would ahve to be "distress" not distraught, right?

I like the rhyme in the first line and also liked the poem overall.

And he waved a magic wand, and she slept for a hundred years, perhaps!

All those prompts wrapped up in such a small package - excellent.

ad hoc

fraught and overwrought
in darkness distraught she taught,
fought, tripped up on her dropped chalk

A gorgeous invitation.

If I touch Mrs N's arm at night, she pretends to be asleep. Is that the same?

Thinking beyond words....

Asking some intimacy that will induce her to sleep....

Just a little comfort, that is all you need. I like your poem.

Sometimes, that works! Neat take on the prompt.

And after a touch on the arm, the imagery persists. Perhaps relaxed enough to sleep in the aftermath. Very nice.

The sincere plea is so evident in this. It makes me feel guilty for the times I told my husband I'd rather sleep than talk. Thank you for sharing this.

Like some others, I really liked the sensuality in this haiku. "Dispel my insomnia"--great!
