between the parallel lines

artwork by Jack Vettriano
the netted curtain veils her
the way she looks at that far away window
nothing is visible
yet she can see in her mind's eye
a room filled with all her longings
a limitless imagination holds her in her time of need
a loyal friend who never lets her down

in the other corner of that room
he sits watching her stillness
his impatience is deeply hidden.
in her silhouette
he finds his solace
a feat almost impossible to achieve

that falling lock of hair
snakes into both.
hits at one-
while the other seems complacent

A room filled with all of her longings... how lovely and yet, how sad.
Great write.

This is rather amazing, because of what is unsaid, and underlying what is said. Really a thought-provoking glimpse into their lives.

That room filled with longings seems to be the only thing that is limitless in this sad poem. Great writing!

What utmost sadness is encapsulated in the beautiful piece of writing. How well you have pulled us in to witness their lives,

Love the final whispering, inner thought focus on her hair tendrils and what they symbolise! Lovely poem!

I love the hidden images and thoughts that only seem to be glimpsed from the shadows of your poem, Gautami. Thank you for sharing this expressive poem.

Thank you for coming to visit me ..

'nothing is visible yet she can see in her mind's eye' ~~ this line is perfection and my favorite.

Good stuff, it's only when I realise that a man is watching her, that I notice her hair!
