beyond the wall

wishing for sunshine
I put my clothes to dry
in the belief that my wish would be granted

a normal, mundane life
is it too much to ask?
a new shelter for my dreams

dedicated to my task
I sing tunelessly
with a resolve with no sustenance

should I wait for a revolution
for things to turn my way
with a design of my dreams

ultimately, when I do review my life
I won't be able  to see the war
you win, or I win
we both lose on the humanity front

There are cases when there are no winners... just the fact that we compete gives all the losers.

I resonate with this poem. I remember a time, wistfully looking at clothes hung on clotheslines, at people living "a normal life" when I longed for the same. Love the line "a new shelter for my dreams".

I think that hanging the washing is one of those moments of great revelation in our minds as we ponder life's mystery. I can remember doing just that while the dog looked at me and seemed to say "Are you mad? We could be going for a walk."

How refreshing to hear the wish for a normal, mundane life! Too many people want drama these days!

resign to daily life of chores and hopes...when the wish for sun is for a moment thought to much to ask.
