when thoughts muddle with heat

in that bowl of ice cream
I try to find some coolness

I am frantic in this heat
random things springs in the mind
sultry weather, no one's fault
nature's way of testing us
to make us absorbed deeply into it

that man in that tiny birdbath
is that too much?
he can only skim the surface
not touch it without pain
his shirt discarded now

after that stain of salt shows in its grain
that birdbath can't contain his length
I shake my thoughts
scour that bowl with all my strength
I ache for more

"when the sky finally falls
I will hide under that now named manbath"

What a beautiful reflection...how lost we can get in our thoughts..I would choose ice cream over a bird bath to cool down!

Ha. I think the birdbath is the right place once the heat is on.

Come on, yield your place. A bird is waiting.

the bird bath's kind of a silly place for a grown man to find himself, but i gues the heat drives one a little wacky

I can feel the heat - we have it here too. Record breaking temps. Just took the dogs for a swim.....I love the photo of the man in the birdbath!

I think he was supposed to fix it not sit in it. On the other hand it may be new and he was demonstrating to the birds how to use it!

I like ice cream even when it's cold. Leave the bird bath to the birds I say. But I agree with you - thoughts do get muddy when we're almost having heat stroke. I enjoyed reading this!

I'll take the ice cream over a bird bath.

She does do a whole load of testing us does old mother nature! It would be great if the council built manbaths in the parks. I'd hide under!

Great fun magpie, and your closing quote is just the coolest. Manbath! Love it, and every Man Cave should have one! Hehehe!
