hide me within you

near that river,
close to the railway track
a body is revealed.
is she alive
did she collapse there?

I can see the longing in her face
imagine her radiant smile in better days
and gnash my teeth at the waste
where did she emerge from
now almost skin and bones

a mask,
isn't it what we have always?
is it reel, is it real
who will answer
above that silence

media has all the answers
one needs only post it there
no respect for the alive
even less for the dead
but let her rest in peace

"let me close my eyes and rest for a while
while she lies in the shallows"

So true, Gautami.

Thanks Bone..

This is not one of my best works. My muse has been dead for the past 6 weeks. Today I forced myself write this. I was thinking of how the social media works. Main media is even worse...

A thought-provoking and intriguing poem, Guatami! I like "who will answer above that silence?"

Ah, a dark interpretation of the image. Rather symbolic of what's happening to the natural world.

An innovative and even rather profound response to the prompt; well done.

I like your insightful play on words in the questions: "Is it reel, is it real?"

The river and railroad tracks drawn me in and then in the third line I'm hit with the sad reality and my mind ponders the possibilities

This modern take on the illustration is a indictment of mankind's bestiality. We have been given an Eden and have made it hell.

i think this is a very powerful write. your muse is certainly back.
you nailed it with mainstream media. they are interested in readership and the profit line.

A great line "is it reel, is it real" and more! Love your take. I wrote about dying and so far I haven't seen many takes about death.

I read what you said about your muse being dead. Mine died once too and I worked for 2 years to bring it back. It will come if it's what you do love.

Media is becoming ridiculous isn't it? I used to enjoy TV and movies but even they have been disappointing. The writers in Hollywood have no clue.

I also feel as a race we are lost and when I look at my fellow man I feel a sadness more than hope these days.
