soup of health

creamy roads on my soup
create an illusion of well being-
rains pour down my cheeks

rivulets of rain
go down the muddy drain
as soup keeps me sane

sanity has a price I think,
demolishing the creamy roads
as I eat the rice in soup

fork is completely useless
to trudge through those roads
I lick the spoon spotless

if I should die now
think only this of me-
she loved rich soups!

I'm sure you'll be remembered for other things, but thanks for the food fun memory.

Brought smile on my face though you talk of death!

It says you will live long to give such rich creamy treat to mind and heart.

As a child I used to love playing with those creamy roads on the soup's surface! Loved creating swirls within swirls! Enjoyed how you connected all three prompts within a bowl of soup!

That's true and wonderful poetry.. howmany can really lick the spoon spotless.. great to see your passion for life..and the way you put it..and thanks for the prompt that made me write something very close to my heart...

A great analogy here.

Sometimes something as simple as soup can keep us sane. A warm reminder on a rainy day. I like the imagery in your poem.

That illusion can make even the creamiest of soups (experiences) hard to swallow. Thanks for this, Gautami

The older I get, the more I wish I had a spoon instead of a fork, lol. I love this poem - funny!

I too, prefer eating with a spoon, out of a bowl. But, my bowl isn't necessarily healthy. However, I am also driven to lick that spoon spotless, but it could definitely lead to an end of me. And no, I ain't telling, so don't ask.

Obviously loved this poem, the humor and lovely light touch that ends in death. Reality always creeps in. Good thing, that.

Gautami, a great marriage of the road and one of my favorite foods... for me, I saw shrimp bisque. Memory poems are the best, and yours is very tasty indeed! Amy

In my younger years I had a girl friend that believed a creamy soup on a cold rainy night was as close to heaven as you could get on this earth.

Very cleverly done, indeed! You got a lot going on here, and I think it came together wonderfully.

indeed, soups keep sanity. something about the forced measured slowness of it all. it creates a calming a ritual.
