pictures stare, curves are drawn

smooth black surface
darker than sin,
blankness for it
is absolute slight

that darkness
has such a soul-
shining bright,
never to be sold

it comes to life
when words form,
pictures stare,
curves are drawn.

eloquence speaks
with fluency of letters
smoothing over flat
surface, pausing a while

"darkness shines only when
it belongs to a blackboard,
much bruised with chalks"

crossed and dotted---[Fiction] Friday

This Week’s [Fiction] Friday Challenge is to write a story, poem, or essay from the point of view of an inanimate object. I had started with a series called classroom compendium, which I had abandoned for no rhyme or reason. This is a great prompt to revive it. Continuing with my stationery series...

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
screwed or welded
nailed and chiselled
evened rough edges.
body marked, scarred
penned, dotted with
love or wrath.
each new day filled
with a tale to tell.
whispered secrets
held in my grained heart,
witness to laughter,
scolding and praise
I am taken to task
for all misfortune-
resigned to the
kicks of rage.
strong, sturdy
frame stands aloft.
my solidity yet
offering comfort
at times of need.
kids do fidget
but enough of me-
they cannot get.
much involved
how do I take
them to task-
I love those mites
despite being only
a classroom desk!
Pencilled
inner-most secrets;
rants on just
about anything,
journals of plan
hitherto unseen.
diary full of
deep dark thoughts-
lies, betrayals,
broken trusts,
impaired dreams.
witnessing it all
in somber bemoan
pencil stays mute
its lead busted.
Black Vitality
smooth black surface
darker than night,
blankness for it
can only be a slight.
comes to life
when words form,
pictures stare,
curves are drawn.
yet the darkness
has soul- never sold.
as can only happen with
blackest
of blackboards.
Another attempt to write on inanimate objects, mostly on classroom materials. One of my friends has asked me to name those as stationery series. I will if I have enough poems.
cms & inches
grooved chest-
great looks;
smooth features,
marked surface-
straight lines;
a rule-
goes into
great lengths!
After structured poetry, it is good to come back to short, brief free verses. Mundane stuff really.
Journey of Ink----Deemed Sonnet
starting from nowhere, where does it end?
going on, stopping a while, resting along
saga continues, spirit being so strong-
circles, curves, squiggling at the bends,
stories are told, cut short once more, tend
to go off in a tangent, nothing goes wrong
as it has to travel miles, pausing for a song;
poised above words, jerked out; sends
signals to follow travellers, regaling anecdotes
of various stop over, amusing details retold
again and again which becomes part of lore
to be memorized; recalled akin to a side note
on the margins of a text marked muted or bold
this goes on until nothing is left of ink's valour.
Staple Diets
on the line,
those tiny bent pins
await their turn for
binding papers,
little realising,
they are reponsible
for the tiny holes,
which pierces
the cellulose soul.
Stapler with metallic heart
clawing the pins!!
Chalk Chronicles......Sunday Scibblings
The writing prompt Chronicles by Sunday Scribblings was not easy by any standards. I kept thinking for three days but I am not satisfied with what I came up with. Still I decided to post.
Friday….
Read about the Sunday scribbling writing prompt. To chronicle. Thinking about it.
Saturday....
Still no idea. Mind is closed up.
Sunday morning....
Still blank. Staring at the screen. Something forms.
One day in the life of a chalk…
After the assembly
I can hear her footsteps.
In anticipation
I await for her to
pick me up.
Again I am left out;
my friends get picked.
I watch her fingers moving
with fast pace
on the blackboard.
Pausing here,
explaining there;
depicting formulae
of sums unknown
to me or them.
Finally I get my wish
but how! Feeling
a slimy hand crushing
me to splinters,
powdered to dust.
