Franchise

With all powers curbed till date
It had been a never-ending wait
Maybe the world at large
Had been able to barge
The state had to give in
Though it had not been keen
Veiled and Chadored
They came out in droves
With so much smile and joy
No one seemed least coy
Woman; young and old
It was a sight to behold
Unmindful of the serpentine queues
They held on to their own views
They wanted the state to note
Their rights by their vote
So finally they exercised
………..Their Franchise
