mother of mine

When William Butler wrote that line-
"When you are old and grey and full of sleep
what was he thinking, I wouldn't know
I hope he did not mean it as a theory
he was generalizing, I presume
one look at my mother, his theory fails
she is old (don't tell her that!)
but not grey and is full of activity
a radiant heroine in her own way

"and she ended with a daughter who is always tired"

This is so lovely - I'm still smiling! Thanks so much for your continued support of Carry On Tuesday. It makes all that work worthwhile.

My mum is young, not gray, but tired, with a daughter who can't keep still - she's a great sister though, and my mum is great too.

Your only as old as you feel, and people who feel young tend to look young too.

A rather attractive wry last comment but hey - need to keep the family in balance! Enjoyed this!

William Blake could write but perhaps he was not so observant. Parents can always be industrious superheroes, let's hope we are to our children too.

I loved your description of your mother as a "radiant heroine".

same here. If I have to describe my mother in one word it is life and one word description of me is dead

How is it that our mothers have more energy than we do? My own mother amazes me.

Not to sound, you know, grandiose, or anything but I fear he was talkin about me...

'radiant heroine' I loved that description of your mother. These lines reminded me of my mother too who is always busy with something or the other.

What a fabulous testimony to your mother. I pray my children will write of me like this some day (except I am already grey and definitely NOT old!)

BRAVA, my friend, for your fine words.
