appliques on my quilt
are a tapestry
my mom has written a story or more in patches
I have tried to unthread it
the needle pierced my thumb
mom gloated over it

Here's saluting you, Gautami.. how do you pick up the threads from anywhere and then to talk of unthreading.. Wow! God bless!
I guess that Mom's sharp needle brought you back to the here and now. Moms are good for that.

"my mom has written a story or more in patches"
Such a nice image
There are times when I definitely become unravelled.
this story 160 made me smile--- Mothers can be like that with "I told you so" attitude.
Nice 160,
Joanny
Aaw moms should never gloat, wonderful 160 :o)
Lovely reminiscence Gautami.Jae.
we have a patchwork quilt handed down through the family, filled with stories...moms gloating though is a bit disturbing...
my 160
the family quilts....notheing like them to create wonderful memories.
great poem
Tsk, that isn't nice of her at all. Wait. You're pulling a quilt apart?!
Audrey, you got that right! I was! But her stitches are so good, That I couldn't..
Mom's rule...their world. You just don't mess with them. Great Sunday 160. Thanks for playing.
Very nice. I love those family quilts that tell a story in memories.
I love the idea of patched together stories that bring warmth long after being sewn together. Were you attempting to unravel it so you could put your version in there? With your explanation above, she's got good reason to gloat. Wonderful piece,
Elizabeth
I like this very much - the mom's story, the daughter having a different version perhaps? Great 160
A wonderful metaphor for the mother-daughter relationship!
Creative way of expressing a universal truth...well done.

moms are good at saying I told you so, aren't they? (myself included!)
A lot of memories and emotion woven into these lines.
