winter has only just begun

you float in and out
more out than in
I try to hold the wild images
chasing images merge into the walls
that sense of lost intangibles
submerges into depression
shadows of your translucent skin
is imprinted everywhere
I want to walk away
from the interloper
(which is nothing but conjured images)
mortality of my feelings is at its tether
destiny brought us together
destiny will part us
I can still hear you saying,
"it is our pleasure"
but I cannot hold it any longer
I will let it slip through my fingers

"if you so desire, it is your turn to thaw me"

The sadness of losing touch is as cold (and as powerful) as the month you describe..Jae

It sounded like a relationship that was one sided. It is very hard to love someone and they don't return that love in full measure. Better the hurt now that the bigger pain tomorrow. Choose someone not so wild next time. I really enjoyed this work.

I agree with Westlander Poetry on this. You have captured the images skillfully.

Along with relationships and seasons, I thought of the lose of time. How thin it truly is, how it spills through our fingers, times when we are hungry for more, and other times when we want it no more. And then the statement at the end brings me back to a relationship which one partner has worked on and yearns for the other hand in compromise.

I really liked the phrase "mortality of my feelings." Sad, but good.

destiny will bring us together and it will tear us apart...true that...and what we let slip through our fingers is choice...

Interesting that you have 'winter' in the title, but that everything in the poem is prelude to that winter, a foreboding, an omen.

A reminder that others come in and out of our lives. The challenge, I think, is to understand what they have to teach us.

This is so beautifully and hauntingly expressed, the flow of words adding to the feelings evoked. Beautiful work.

Gautami,

Read 2 poems now. Both show love but in different shades.

Take care

I love your turn of phrase here.

The imagery is so vivid...the words so poignant and profound.

This was an absolute masterpiece.
