Luck
Pretend
i chew on my pencil pretending
to look like a scrivener.
fixing my eyes on a distal point-
superficially plucking on my gilt button,
thinking luck is on my side-
i trace outlines on those loose sheets-
squiggles, which do not make sense.
“who said it was easy to decipher mind?”

I agree with Sassy. The last line ties all of this together quite nicely.
Really neat the way you brought this full circle.
You take the simplest words and turn them into such great works. This poem is no different. Thanks for incorporating my Friday 5 with 3WW today. Have a nice day.
i like the style and lightness of your theme....most enjoyable
Perhaps it is the paper, that is at fault. The wrong color or grade. There is no pretend after all, only you and your thoughts.

LOL! Not I, I never said it! Thanks Gautami!
Am just here to say "Happy New Year"
Oh, I can so identify with this poem. I can see you on that parapet trying to write and I can see those loose papers.
You are doing the right thing: writing about not being able to write; it's the only way through it!
How fun and don't we all know that feeling... I like the way you tied Poefusion words into this prompt, as well. Nice!!
Unpoem or not it still sounds good to me.
I like how you draw me into the mind of a writer engaged in a creative act.
HAHAHAHA!! I love the idea of prtending to look like you're busy being creative - this is me at work!! Happy 2008
Very nice, clear imagery, plus you've shown well the tension within a creative person's mind when creating.
Definitely not easy to read minds :)
Happy new year!
I agree with what a couple others said. "Squiggles, which do not make sense" is such a wonderful line.
Hope you have a wonderful new year.
Gautami, I like your unpoems... This was so easy to identify with, such a clear picture of a writer's mind. I also like how easily you combined the two prompts.
are you really a chewer?! so am I!!! I had myself broken of the habbit and then finals hit! :( enjoyed how you got ALL of those into such a small, simple but strong scribble :)
