as a dirge it truly sucks

time ahead intimidates me
demands a piece of me
I turn askew
and sing a dirge silently
letting the aura slowly fade away from me

I look at my immaculate fingers
painted so meticulously,
each one ringed too
I think sadness has no place here
I can't let it rule me

I squint towards the sun
rays of light blind me
yet warmth permeates me
washes away the negatives
I am left with tranquilty

"when a new aura sets around me,
I welcome it illogically"

Does the aura change and fade? Occasionally snuffed out, only to reemerge later? Your introspection gives me cause to think this morning. I enjoyed your piece.

Yes, they are of the emotion - a good place to be sometimes.

ahhh. to acknowledge and live with sadness and not let it be overbearing.

I was living that yesterday. And much of my life, actually.

Your words, as always, invite thought and reflection. I value the depth you bring to the page.

Those auras can draw us in and captivate us until, before we know it, we are wide open again--and that is far from easy.

Lovely poem, ruminating on the challenges and the lessons of time.

time ahead does demand too much sometimes. I'm reading all of these and I love how almost everyone is avoiding the actual prompt. Almost as if we had planned it--disdaining the way stars demand stuff. It's funny somehow.

Emotional lament - and you've done that thing with the prompts again; clever.

Great take on the prompt. I especially like the second stanza. Who hasn't felt that way before?!

I like this - the auras changing from sadness to tranquility.

Things rings so true for me in this, the dis-allowing and allowing of different auras based on preference in the moment.

Beautifully captured.

I love the line - sing a dirge silently :)

Why welcome it illogically?

You must exude an happy aura for all the world to see!

Such a positive perspective--let the bad aura go, let the good settle in. Lovely verse.

Good wishes.
