springs of March

renewed in the springs of March
my new avatar
is but a shadow of my previous one
I prefer it this way
a plastic smile
doesn't fail me
mechanical motion
is good for the soul
real and virtual merge at a point
I grin at the nonsensical things
somewhere in the falsified life
I feel a tremulous breeze blowing
which wraps around me
engulfs this avatar, strips it bare
leaves me with the older version
I fall in love with myself yet again
Isn't March great to be a birth month?

No, it isn't. Everybody thinks this way, but it is wrong. So keep on fighting, sisters.

Best wishes

Well, March is my birth month, too.

Avatars seem to be like fractured personalities, almost caricatures, masks available for dressing and undressing!

When the persona falls away, there we are again. Though that mask can provide a welcome and needed barrier from all that is out there.

March carries so many analogies for rebirth. I think you're right.

Gets awfully cold when you're naked though, doesn't it?

I guess we're all eventually stripped bear, leaving ourselves with our "real" selves. Good to love what we have.

Happy Birthday! March is the month with the most birthdays in our family, so it must be a good month. I enjoyed your poem.

Being reborn instead of another year older--great way to look at it.

Beyond the movie, I am not sure what the avatar really is. Ego, self, or alter ego? How does (or could) it change over time? Maybe it is just an idealized version of who we might be or maybe we just need entertainment. Your work invokes more thoughts for me.
