ctrl/alt/del-----Read Write Poem/Monday Poetry Train

And come ride the Poetry Train

I key in and expunge
words that gush unreservedly
from my earnest reflections

too revealing in their
raw passion
and honest fervor

sliding down my mind
decoded into letters
but exterminated by backspace.

I know how that feels.

It's a really good poem though.

I wonder what we'd have if the literary geniuses would have never tossed out their rough work.

We were thinking about this just yesterday, how the keyboard and computer have changed the art of writing. Better or worse? I don't know.

Exterminated by backspace. Man, that resonates.

Hey, do you know these people? One of the women in my book club met someone who works for them and I thought I'd ask you if you know anything.

in the past Writers would have thought long and hard before putting pen to paper...now we meander through our mindscape and jot as we go...
but we prolly spend as much time backspacing and deleting as they did starting over.

I don't think that our inner Editors really care how we get there. We still need to do to get it right..or atleast close enough.

discretion being the better part of valor, no?

I think there was a lot of crumpled paper tossed into the wastebasket before backspace was invented.

Love this:

'too revealing in their
raw passion
and honest fervor'

There's also a keyboard function where you can undo your expunge and, in fact, reveal those inner thoughts...

So why don't you? Restore the fervor and paste back in the passion, Gautami!

A great poem. The title is very clever!

I'd like to read some of what you've deleted, if it's fervent and passionate!

I love the title of this poem! And the poem, too!

Saying it truly with words that are few sometimes steals the beauty away...expunging the beauty and leaving only the skeleton of the flower.

If it wasn't for the keyboard I probably wouldn't write. I can't read my handwriting myself, so nobody else would stand a chance!

A lot of trees have been saved by backspacing, if nothing else!

Sometimes it's hard to tell when it's a good thing and when it's not. This poem is a good thing, though.

I really like the two lines:
'too revealing in their
raw passion'
I like the picture that some simple words, even just a few, can reveal all of your soul.
