fly in!------Writers Island

fingers itch, face twitches-
wide browed stare
searches moronically
for that fly which escaped.

slowly head turns toward
roof, taking in the walls
too at a glance.
the fly eludes, moving

out of periphery.
with a blink, eyes gather
themselves, collecting-
return to task at hand.

I key in the words
of this observation
for posterity. fly zooms
in to trouble some more.

First of all thank you for visiting me I feel honoured. Your entree is amazing you are very literate. I keep on meeting people from India, I wonder why (I believe there is a reason for everything)

Very, very cool. I am laughing here!

I wonder how many opuses have been lost due to the lack of a flyswatter.

Funny how one can be so easily distracted, indeed nearly driven mad, by one little bug. Original take, making the word a verb instead of the more obvious object.

Guatami. what an interesting take on The Key. I love it. OH, BTW- when you are done, can you come over and swat my millers(that's moths in mid-western slang.) Can't help it as it is rooted deep in my mind. Lovely and clever poem.

Good prompt interpretation - :)

For me it is usually my cat trying to sit on the keyboard!

I love that you came at this prompt from such a fresh angle.

Also, I sort of like this Writer's Island concept. I might have to play next week.

Hi Gautami! Wonderful humor in this! I love how the "fly eludes" and the way the "eyes gather themselves". Brilliant!!

An identifiable frustration keyed. Got a kick out of it. Flies annoy me more than they should.

I love how you can take such a mundane fleeting moment and create something so poetic and lasting from it.
