the mirrored bathroom
reflected the glory that our bodies made
entangled and gyrating to the shower
plaster splitting from those sounds
in the light of this ordinary daylight
chipped mirror reflects the folly of lust
dripping taps, hostile edge of tub
witness to the voices of past memory
"chipped mirror reflects the folly of lust
forgetful of the glory that our bodies made"

oh this one brings back memories.....
Steamy! Really lustful.
I'll smile next time I go into the bathroom :-)
i would leave cracked mirrors as is...
Ooh Gautami this is steamy. I love it. You captured the essence of lust and folly well. Have a great day.
So The Tour Manager and I are watching Cribs on MTV one night. A singer we both like is having his house featured. The singer points out that the shower is situated in such a way that the people in the shower can see into the mirrors. All of them. (and there's a bunch) Mirrors, that is. People? Dunno.
Fast forward a few months. I'm looking at homes. I find one with a bathroom with the shower and mirror thing happening again. Almost bought the house for that reason alone.
Just sharing... see what this poem inspired?
too old for the mirror thing (sigh), some things are best only remembered... fun
You're just so good. A real poet.
Mmmm I remember a time or two way back when... wonderful!
What wonderful memories the narrator has, but you know what they say? They say, what goes around, comes around...
...don't they?
<3
ah, but a folly undone is...
sensuous. The folly is... nice....
goodness!!
to quote mae west, "goodness had nothing to do with it"
This is precious, well done in oh so many ways!
I too would like to have mirrors in my bathroom...
This was indeed steamy and Hot! Great work :)
I rather like this.
Just want to say how much I'm enjoying your blogsite. Beautiful, insightful observations.
Love it!
I like to read your phrase "folly of lust" here in the architectural sense. The mirror may reflect our lack of good judgment, perhaps, but it also reflects our building of little monuments to our idiosyncrasies of pleasure.
Getting it on in the shower while watching in the mirror: What an ephemeral monument in time to our having been alive!
glory and love a wonderful state of mind...most enjoyable g...
