I hold myself to the doorway

I stay in this dreamy cottage
each of its rooms brings surprises
I hold myself to the doorway
rubbing that tarnished key
I find no lock fit its contours

the mirage of you propels me
to walk through that closed door
I know you didn't leave
any trace of your intentions
you wish to remain exiled in that forest

in my palm, that key fills a void
I romance it, skillfully manipulating it

I like this, especially the ending - although I shouldn't really say that, it all flows together so well.

Beautiful images, but why did I think about the Bluebeard tales when reading about a key and doors?

I love the line "I romance it." It is a great way to end it. Well done!

I really enjoyed this..my feeling was there was no cottage, you were talking about places in your mind - and memories. The key symbolizes things in your memory you want to keep hidden...?

Very well done. I love the imagery!

The key fills the role of a Teddy Bear for him. Similar to the child's during a crisis to bring stabilization I'm thinking.
Or a pacifier.

Romance as a mystery place. You could unlock anything...

Intense, controlled emotion here! And there is quite a hidden agenda to romancing the key! Beautiful!

Haunting poem, held by a memory, beautifully done.

Life is full of many rooms we can open. Often times it only takes a key to open that door and create a new possibility. Great imagery, nicely done.

I love your key to romance.

Ah, but how to enter, and when will the beloved return! Such questions make me think of the early days of intense romance. Beautifully done.

Stay a while inside the cottage, touching the walls of the rooms. You don't have to leave. the key is your talisman, a warm stone in your palm.
Beautiful, wistful, strong and deep.
