Banquet Scene with a Lute Player by Nicolas Tournier, 1625 |
my eye glass made my eyes pop out
in the dinner table
everyone is doing their own thing
but I have to find my eyes
not to see better
but to have a presentable look
I can't have that pirated facade
we all look like the prisoners that we are
trapped in the eternal vacuum
of trapped souls
"her lute, it ensnares me, ridicules me,
and also lets me evolve"

nice...music can do all that and more...the pirate look is kinda cool though...
Wow...love this facade....the pirated look would arouse suspicions and inhibitions..dealt the theme with the best choice of words...
(sigh).. looks do hold a lot of weight... don't they? The things we do to maintain that!!
A nice read, Gautami!
He's vain, isn't he? He can't look unpresentable. I like your take!
I love the last two lines!
P.S. I want to see more than your eyes.
I love your take on this prompt, Gautami. I agree.
I enjoyed your imaginative take on that photo.
Solid, interesting - in a good way - piece.
yes - seems like they're all doing their own thing..
..and i too love the last two lines
Yeah, what a poser. Good one, Gautami.
wow, this kind of made me sad...
we all look like the prisoners we are....
love how you connected this with the glass eye. well done, friend.
i love the story you infused into this painting, you brought it to life. This was fun. Do it again, do it again.
Yes I wondered if he was finding smears
on those glasses! and without the music
that crew could be a bore! Thanks-
You chose a great picture to go with your poem. Thanks for the nice comment.

music do many wonders.
Cheers,
I love the direction you took this in.
Nicely done, Gautami!
I like the concept of being trapped in a vacuum I can relate to the sensation. Being judged on appearances is frustrating
Totally interesting!!
Have been through that before. You evoke an exact memory of that experience!
