ghost of words jump haphazardly-----Sunday Scribblings

leave me alone
give me a well needed rest

too long you have stringed me
I am now so very tired

same old story
told differently each time

I and you know
you are getting maudlin

still you believe no one else knows
ghost of words jump on the screen

same old words, same old story
packaged in a new garb

why don't you ever
listen to your inner voice

plainly speaking
simply quit writing-

won't you?

life goes on always with new stories that are born from that inner voice, it is good sometimes to tell...

Writing is such a personal thing. It's purely a personal opinion, but I think on a blog one should write for oneself and as long as you are enjoying the process and the result, you should just carry on with it :-)

Writing comes from questioning. You're questioning. You're writing. It's what it's all about.
Keep questioning. Then you'll keep writing.

Don't you dare stop writing! Switch that inner voice off right now!

Now writing is the wrong thing to quit! I would sadly miss your blog if you followed through on that threat. Don't you dare!

Amazing. I just read something similar from my sister earlier today. All I know is I quit writing for a time in my life, and it was toxic to me. But everyone is different - only you know what is best for you.

PS I just read your instuctions on how to direct link - I'll start doing that! :)

Nicely done--but don't stop writing. Somewhere (I'll have to look it up) I remember a line about how, after creation, all artists are just copying the master.

That's awesome indeed. You've clearly pointed out to listen to one's own inner voice.

But on a lighter side - never quit writing. You, or for that, anybody. Even if it's the same old stuff, keep repeating in a new form. It'll still be entertaining and relaxing.

So, take a look, pen down your thoughts, and get it going, great as always!

Thank you for sharing this.

I recognize that place!!! Not long ago I quit writing for 2 seconds on the universal scale. LOL! I had to “write out” the pain—all the anger at the futility at myself at the world—and found some of the most creative stuff comes from that place. Like the creativity of this piece that you wrote from that place. Yes, it’s a more enjoyable high to be a happy spirit at the keyboard, a free-flowing conduit for words to rush through, to jump haphazardly onto the screen. But what a surprise either way, at what comes up, eh? Looking at stuff you typed going, “Who wrote that?!?” You can give quitting writing a whirl, whatever you need to do to stay healthy, but I’m putting my money on you not quitting for long if you quit at all! ;-)

It's good to get these doubts out and then...banished!

Never quit writing! Quit listening to those annoying inner voices...

"Ghosts of words" very nice phrase. Hopefully you will never quit writing. I quit for many years but the desire for words continued to haunt me.
