calmly laying against your back
my arm encirling you
I follow your breathing
the steadiness of it
tells me of your contented sleep
soothed by it
I draw patterns on your back
smiling a little
"was it only a while back
you were reading me from a book
and I was mocking you at your choice
laughing on your face
you were so annoyed at me that
you threw down the book
and walked out on me
only to be on this sacred place
shared by us both"
kissing you softly on your neck
I fall asleep, my heart following yours
in its rhythmic beat.
"can you please read me the end again?"

that is lovely ! some endings should never end!
Oh, I live the tactile aspect to this poem!
It reminded me of when my mom had cancer a few years ago and I'd sit up most of the night reading to her even after she fell asleep.
must be a good one (the end that is)... this is wonderful!
Another lovely piece. So tender.
Some things just need reading again and again.
this brought to mind two beautiful memories, Me always reading outloud to my husband in bed, "can you please read me the end again?" brought back the memory of tucking in our kids each night with many minutes of reading to them.

So delicate, loving and authentic.

Her bed time stories.

Great image! Very visual.
beautiful images and such a warm ethereal feeling to the whole scene. I love that there is emotional pain and intense pleasure together.

Beautiful. So private and intimate.

What a lovely, bittersweet mood you've set here. I hope the ending will be a happy one :)
How romantic is that? A man reading to you in bed...pure heaven! Very creative use of the prompt.
