viscous time

I retreat into thinning time
peeling the layers
I left behind the churning ocean
my fingertips move so slowly
on the edge of time
I wonder at the dryness
sliding out of the way
I walk the roads
the narrow lanes startle me
again the husk of time take me in
I smile and turn my face

"viscosity of time has to flow like liquid"

Some ways to read this: a dream, a trip, a handicap, a romance? For sure the end is gives me an advice: it's inside out. Nice poem.

Best wishes
Ralf

your poem reminds me so much of music, the way music can surround us and touch us with its lyrics and sound... lovely poem!

I like the flow of this poem - just like time. You said so much, and yet left much unsaid. It's really interesting.

I can almost feel the skin of the garlic, the layers. the dryness, the parting...quite a vivid and to use an old word, trippy poem.

you can fight the flow or go with it...letting it roll seems a bit easier...

It's good, strange. Am I evolution, a sea monster, a drowned sailor?

Like how you describe time in various ways—thin, and edge, and as a husk. Makes for very interesting abstract contemplation.

beautifully written... time's flow feels like an effortless mystery...one we bathe in all our lives, sometimes aware, sometimes clueless as it moves us forward.

Very thoughtful and mysterious (and very beautiful)!

Given the same inspiration - we do take different paths - our imagination will always be our own. And that is the beauty of human kind!

Thanks for your visit and kind comment.

Gautami,
How easy it is to get caught up in the "husk of time."
Peeling and peeling 'til we get to the sweet core of our being.

Great to "see" you again!

Time is a presence in our lives we don't usually examine too closely. Your poem delivers some powerful images that speak of time and its partner, age: thinning time, dryness, narrow lanes, husk

I like the layers. When time thins, does it flow more slowly, or just dry up?

Kavita said...

sometimes, it may get thick with coagulants... sometimes, it dilutes itself... and yet, effortlessly, it flow.. such is the magic of time indeed..

Well said, Gautami..

Gautami,

The more one digs under, the more tang beneath the nails.

Narrow lanes. Familiar, somehow, and comforting.
